Product Materials and Safety Information

At BFB Brass®, the quality and safety of our products is central to our mission. The BFB Natural Trumpet™ and plastic mouthpieces across the Mutec™ and BFB Brass® product lines are manufactured from durable engineering resins selected for their stability, durability, and suitability for musical-instrument use.

The BFB Natural Trumpet™ is manufactured from ABS (Acrylonitrile Butadiene Styrene). Mutec™ and BFB Brass® plastic mouthpieces are available in injection-molded ABS and 3D-printed versions.

Different manufacturing processes and materials are used across our product line.

BFB Brass® maintains material information and safety documentation provided by our manufacturers and suppliers.

For our injection-molded ABS mouthpieces, we also maintain independent laboratory testing documentation for the ABS resin and colorant used in production. These materials have been tested for substances including lead, cadmium, mercury, hexavalent chromium, restricted phthalates, and bisphenols.

Testing documentation is maintained as part of our product-safety records and is available upon request.

California Proposition 65 (“The Safe Drinking Water and Toxic Enforcement Act of 1986”) requires businesses to provide warnings for exposures to certain chemicals identified by the State of California as causing cancer, birth defects, or other reproductive harm.

BFB Brass® reviews available material information and safety documentation as part of our ongoing product-safety process.

The BFB Natural Trumpet™ and Mutec™/BFB Brass® plastic mouthpieces are designed for easy cleaning and disinfection.

Recommended procedures:

• Wash regularly with warm water and mild soap using a mouthpiece brush

• For deeper sterilization, use a diluted antiseptic/mouthpiece disinfectant

• Avoid harsh solvents or abrasive cleaners

• Do not expose mouthpieces to prolonged high heat (e.g., boiling, dishwasher heating cycles)

• Allow the instrument or mouthpiece to dry completely before storage
